1 - 14 ounce box Wheat Chex
1 - 12 ounce box Corn Chex
1 - 12 ounce box Rice Chex
1 -12 ounce box Cheerios (about 12 cups)
1 bag thin pretzels - the stick kind (about a pound)
2 cups nuts ((your choice: peanuts, cashews, etc.))
1 1/2 cups butter
½ cup light olive oil
½ cup Worcestershire Sauce
2 Tablespoons Liquid Smoke
2 teaspoons Tabasco sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons Lawry's Seasoned Salt

Steps:

  • Take out the extra rack in your oven if you have one, and put the remaining rack on the bottom or next to the bottom level. Preheat oven to 225°F | 110°C.
  • In a large paper grocery bag, mix cereals, pretzels and nuts together and set aside.
  • In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter and oil together, and then blend in Worcestershire Sauce, Liquid Smoke, and hot sauce. Slowly pour over mixture in the bag, shaking as you do to cover everything. Sprinkle seasoned salt over everything, shut the top of the bag, and shake the heck out of it.

This classic homemade nuts and bolts recipe is my family's favourite and I hope you like it as much as we do.

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 cups of salted butter melted
1 tablespoon seasoning salt
3 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
2-3 tablespoons garlic powder 3 is my dad's level!
1 tablespoon paprika
8 cups of Crispix Cereal plain corn and rice
4 cups of Rice Chex
4 cups plain Cheerios
4 cups of pretzel sticks
1 box cheese stick crackers
Optional spices: 1/2 tbsp onion powder (very good 1/2 tbsp dried dill, ( haven't tried it but sounds great!))

Steps:

  • Preheat your oven to 250 degrees F.
  • In a very large roaster, combine the cereals, nuts, crackers and pretzels. In microwave (or on stove) melt butter and mix in spices and Worcestershire. Pour over dry ingredients and stir gently to mix thoroughly.
  • Bake at 250 degrees for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, stirring gently with a spoon every 25 minutes or so.
  • The mix will be done when you can see that all of the butter mixture has been absorbed and is dry.

2 cups Cheerios
2 cups bite-sized Shredded Wheat
2 cups pretzel sticks
1-1/2 cups salted peanuts
1/4 cup butter, cubed
3 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon celery salt
1/2 teaspoon onion salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika

Steps:

  • Combine cereals, pretzels and nuts. In a small saucepan, melt butter; stir in seasonings. Pour over cereal mixture; toss to coat. Spread in an ungreased 15x10-in. rimmed pan. Bake at 250° 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Store in an airtight container.

1.5 cups peanut butter
1 cup oil
1.5 tbsp worcestershire
1 box cheerios
1 box shreddies
1 box crispix
2 bags bugles
1 bag pretzels
1 bag salted nuts
1 box golfish crackers

Steps:

  • sprinkle all with garlic salt pour peanut butter mixture over top and stir bake at 200 degrees F for 2 hours stir every 20 mins

Tips:

  • To make the peanut butter, roast the peanuts at 350°F for 10-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown and fragrant.
  • Once the peanuts are roasted, let them cool slightly before rubbing them between your fingers to remove the skins.
  • Add a pinch of salt to the peanut butter to enhance the flavor.
  • If you don't have a food processor, you can make peanut butter in a blender. Just be sure to use a high-powered blender and blend the peanuts until they are smooth and creamy.
  • Store peanut butter in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer for up to 6 months.
