1/2 cup chocolate-flavor syrup
3 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
2 to 3 tablespoons milk
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons chocolate-flavor syrup

Time 55m

Yield 12-14 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 14

3 eggs
1 2/3 cups sugar, divided
1 1/2 cups milk, divided
3 unsweetened chocolate squares, finely chopped
1/2 cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups cake flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
1 1/2 cups peanut butter
1/4 cup salted peanuts, chopped
3 milk chocolate candy bars, broken into squares

Steps:

  • In saucepan, whisk 1 egg until blended. Stir in 2/3 cup sugar, 1/2 cup milk and chocolate. Cook and stir over medium heat until chocolate is melted and mixture just comes to a boil. Remove from heat; cool to room temperature.

Tips:

  • Mise en Place: Before starting, ensure all ingredients are measured and ready, and equipment is clean and ready to use.
  • Use Quality Peanut Butter: Choose a creamy, smooth peanut butter without added sugars or oils for the best flavor.
  • Creaming Butter and Sugar: Cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. This will incorporate air and help create a moist, tender cake.
  • Adding Eggs: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. This will prevent the batter from curdling.
  • Mixing Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. This will ensure even distribution throughout the batter.
  • Alternating Dry and Wet Ingredients: Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients in three additions, alternating with milk. Begin and end with the dry ingredients to prevent overmixing.
  • Do Not Overmix: Mix only until the ingredients are combined. Overmixing can result in a tough, dense cake.
  • Baking the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake in a preheated oven. Check the cake for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center. It should come out clean or with just a few moist crumbs attached.
  • Cooling and Frosting: Allow the cake to cool completely before frosting. This will help prevent the frosting from melting.
