Tips:

  • Soak the beans overnight to save time and help them cook more evenly. If you're short on time, you can quick-soak the beans by bringing them to a boil in a pot, then removing them from the heat and letting them sit for an hour.
  • Use a variety of beans for a more flavorful soup. Some good options include kidney beans, black beans, and cannellini beans.
  • Don't be afraid to add other vegetables to the soup. Some good options include carrots, celery, onions, and spinach.
  • If you want a thicker soup, you can add a cornstarch slurry or a roux. To make a cornstarch slurry, mix 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of water until smooth. Then, stir the slurry into the soup and bring to a boil. To make a roux, melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Then, whisk in 2 tablespoons of flour and cook for 1 minute. Remove the saucepan from the heat and whisk in 1 cup of milk. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Season the soup to taste with salt, pepper, and other herbs and spices. Some good options include garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and chili powder.

Conclusion:

Pasta fagioli is a hearty and flavorful soup that is perfect for a cold winter day. It's easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. So next time you're looking for a delicious and satisfying soup, give pasta fagioli a try!
