SUNFLOWER, BACON AND PARMESAN BOW-TIE PASTA SALAD

Sunflower, Bacon and Parmesan Bow-tie Pasta Salad image

One of my co-workers found this recipe from a local grocery store; when we have potlucks we hope he'll make this salad. It's very easy and very tasty - but you really can't go wrong with bacon and parmesan-now can you? (The cooking time - includes the minimum chill time.)

Time 3h20m

Yield 10 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 7

12 ounces bow tie pasta, cooked according to directions
1 1/2 cups bottled parmesan salad dressing, divided
1/2 cup sunflower seeds
1/2 cup sliced celery
1/2 cup sliced green onion, tops included
3 tablespoons diced pimentos or 1 small diced red pepper
1/2 lb bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to directions on box, drained.
  • Add 1 cup of parmesan dressing, celery, onions, pimento/red pepper to pasta.
  • Toss to mix.
  • Chill several hours or overnight.
  • Prior to serving, add remaining 1/2 cup dressing, bacon and sunflower seeds.
  • Toss to mix and serve.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: The better the ingredients, the better the dish will taste. Look for fresh parmesan cheese, high-quality olive oil, and flavorful tomatoes.
  • Cook the pasta al dente: This means that the pasta should be cooked until it is tender but still has a slight bite to it. Overcooked pasta will be mushy and unpleasant to eat.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When cooking the pasta, be sure to use a large enough pot so that the pasta has plenty of room to move around. Overcrowding the pan will prevent the pasta from cooking evenly.
  • Season the pasta water: Adding salt to the pasta water helps to flavor the pasta as it cooks. Be sure to add enough salt so that the water tastes slightly salty.
  • Don't rinse the pasta: Rinsing the pasta after it is cooked will remove the starch that helps the sauce to cling to the pasta. This will result in a less flavorful dish.
  • Use a variety of vegetables: To make the dish more nutritious and flavorful, add a variety of vegetables to the sauce. Some good choices include broccoli, zucchini, mushrooms, and spinach.
  • Garnish the dish with fresh herbs: Before serving, garnish the dish with fresh herbs such as basil, parsley, or oregano. This will add a pop of color and flavor to the dish.

Conclusion:

Parmesan bow-tie pasta is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. With its creamy sauce, flavorful vegetables, and tender pasta, this dish is sure to please everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy meal, give this parmesan bow-tie pasta recipe a try.
