Tips:
- Choose thick asparagus stalks: Thicker asparagus stalks are easier to wrap with prosciutto and will hold up better during cooking.
- Trim the asparagus properly: Cut off the woody ends of the asparagus stalks, about 1 inch from the bottom. You can also peel the asparagus stalks if desired, but this is not necessary.
- Use high-quality prosciutto: The quality of the prosciutto will make a big difference in the flavor of the dish. Look for prosciutto that is thinly sliced and has a good amount of marbling.
- Cook the asparagus until it is tender-crisp: You want the asparagus to be cooked through but still have a slight crunch to it. Don't overcook the asparagus, or it will become mushy.
- Make the blue cheese sauce ahead of time: The blue cheese sauce can be made up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator. This will save you time when you're ready to serve the dish.
Conclusion:
Parma-wrapped asparagus with blue cheese sauce is an elegant and delicious appetizer or side dish. It's perfect for special occasions or everyday meals. The combination of salty prosciutto, tender asparagus, and creamy blue cheese sauce is simply irresistible. So next time you're looking for a new way to enjoy asparagus, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
