PAN-FRIED SHRIMP

Pan-Fried Shrimp image

Served with Green Curry Cashew Sauce, this fried shrimp recipe is an easy alternative to takeout.

Provided by Martha Stewart

Categories     Food & Cooking     Ingredients     Seafood Recipes     Shrimp Recipes

Number Of Ingredients 3

1 1/2 pounds large peeled and deveined shrimp
Coarse salt and freshly ground pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil

Steps:

  • Season shrimp with coarse salt and ground pepper. Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add half the shrimp; cook until opaque throughout, 2 to 3 minutes. Repeat with another tablespoon oil and remaining shrimp.
  • Serve with Green Curry Cashew Sauce if desired.

Tips:

  • Choose fresh shrimp: Look for shrimp that are firm, have a slight briny smell, and are free of any discoloration.
  • Use a large skillet: This will help to prevent the shrimp from overcrowding and steaming instead of frying.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: Cook the shrimp in batches if necessary to prevent them from steaming.
  • Use a high heat: This will help to sear the shrimp and create a nice crust.
  • Don't overcook the shrimp: Overcooked shrimp will be tough and chewy. Cook them for just a few minutes until they are opaque and pink.
  • Make the Creole dipping sauce ahead of time: This will give the flavors time to meld and develop.
  • Serve the shrimp with your favorite sides: Such as rice, pasta, or vegetables.

Conclusion:

Pan-fried shrimp with Creole dipping sauce is a delicious and easy-to-make dish that is perfect for any occasion. With its crispy shrimp, flavorful sauce, and versatile sides, it's sure to be a hit with everyone who tries it. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy seafood dish, give this recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
