Tips:

  • Select the freshest orange roughy fillets: Look for fillets that are firm to the touch, with a bright, silvery-pink color and no signs of discoloration.
  • Properly thaw frozen orange roughy: If using frozen fillets, thaw them overnight in the refrigerator or under cold running water. Never thaw fish at room temperature, as this can promote bacterial growth.
  • Pat the fish fillets dry: Before cooking, use a paper towel to pat the fish fillets dry. This helps to remove excess moisture and ensures a crispy skin.
  • Season the fish fillets generously: Season the fillets with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings before cooking. This helps to enhance the flavor of the fish.
  • Use a non-stick skillet or pan: To prevent the fish from sticking, use a non-stick skillet or pan. Alternatively, you can grease the pan with cooking oil or butter.
  • Cook the fish fillets over medium heat: Cooking the fish over medium heat helps to ensure that it cooks evenly without burning. Adjust the heat as needed to maintain a gentle simmer.
  • Flip the fish fillets halfway through cooking: To ensure even cooking, flip the fish fillets halfway through the cooking time. This helps to brown both sides of the fillets.
  • Cook the fish fillets until they are opaque: The fish fillets are cooked when they are opaque throughout. You can check the doneness by inserting a fork into the thickest part of the fillet. If the fish flakes easily, it is cooked.
  • Serve the fish fillets immediately: Once cooked, serve the fish fillets immediately. You can garnish them with fresh herbs, lemon wedges, or a sauce of your choice.
