FRYING PAN BREAD (SKILLET FLATBREAD) - NO YEAST
Steps:
- Add the dry ingredients (i.e. flour, salt, sugar, baking powder & herbs) to a large mixing bowl. Mix dry ingredients together. This helps to spread out the baking powder and prevents small pockets of baking powder being found in the finished bread.
- Soften butter in a microwave.
- Add wet ingredients (i.e. milk and melted butter) to the mixing bowl. Stir thoroughly with a large spoon.
- Use your hands to knead the dough together for 1 or 2 minutes in order to create a nice ball of dough.
- Sprinkle some flour on a cutting board in order to prevent the dough sticking to the cutting board (when you roll out the dough).
- Place the dough of the cutting board.
- Sprinkle a small amount of flour on top of the dough (in order to prevent the dough sticking to the rolling pin).
- Use a rolling pin to roll the dough flat. The dough should be no more than 1/8 inch high.
- Use a large cookie cutter (or small cake ring) to create circular flatbreads. Or cut the dough with a knife diagonally & vertically (in a tic-tac-toe fashion) in order to create square flatbreads. Use tips below for more information on shaping the skillet flatbread.
- Add 1 or 2 tablespoons of oil or butter to a frying pan.
- Heat the frying pan with low/medium heat (halfway between the low and medium setting on your range dial).
- Place the flatbread dough in to the frying pan. The amount of flatbread that can fit in your frying pan depends on the size of the frying pan & flatbreads.
- Flip all of the flatbreads in the pan every minute in order to prevent burning. Remove the flatbreads from the frying pan when golden brown on both sides. It should take only 2-4 minutes to fry each batch of flatbread (so you need to watch the frying pan carefully... don't step away from the pan or they will burn).
- Add another 1 or 2 tablespoons of oil or butter to the frying pan when you fry a new batch of flatbreads.
- Place the skillet flatbread on a wire cooling rack.
- Serve while still warm.

PAN FRIED, ON THE GRILL OR IN THE OVEN _ GARLIC BREAD !
You can make this on the grill, in a skillet, or on a baking pan in the oven. We make it all three ways... and it is so good! By grilling it... you get a bit of the smokey flavor... By doing it in the oven... you get some darn good garlic bread... By doing it in a skillet... you get a little more control over the color,...

Steps:
- 1. Slice the bread into 1/2 inch to 1 inch thick slices (I cut the slices on a slight angle).
- 2. Melt the butter in a small sauce pan with olive oil.
- 3. Either dip both sides of bread quickly in the butter mixture, or brush the mixture on both sides of the bread.
- 4. Place the buttered bread into a medium - hot skillet. Sprinkle lightly with garlic powder (Never use garlic salt) (if you want a little salt, sprinkle a little on... but not needed). When the bread is browned a bit, flip it over and sprinkle the browned side with garlic powder. Flip over again for a few seconds and remove from heat.
- 5. *** When making this for the oven, only butter one side of the bread and only sprinkle one side. *** You can add shredded parmesan and mozzarella cheeses to any version of this... but oven version is best for cheese.
- 6. This bread is great with this dip! https://www.justapinch.com/recipe/colleen-sowa/cannellini-hummus-dip-for-grilled-breads/quick-easy-healthy-crackers
Tips:
- Use high-quality bread: A sturdy bread like a good baguette or sourdough will hold up well to the frying process and provide a satisfying bite. Avoid using soft, fluffy breads like white bread or sandwich bread, as they will become soggy and fall apart.
- Don't be afraid to use a lot of butter: Butter is what gives garlic bread its rich, decadent flavor, so don't be shy about using it. Be generous with the butter when you're brushing it on the bread, and make sure to get it all the way to the edges.
- Cook the garlic bread over medium heat: Cooking the garlic bread over medium heat will allow it to cook evenly without burning the butter or the bread. Be patient and let the garlic bread cook for a few minutes on each side, until it's golden brown and crispy.
- Use fresh garlic: Fresh garlic has a much more intense flavor than powdered garlic, so it's worth taking the time to mince it yourself. If you don't have fresh garlic, you can use 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder in place of each clove of fresh garlic.
- Add some herbs or spices: If you want to add some extra flavor to your garlic bread, try sprinkling it with some herbs or spices before you bake it. Some good options include parsley, rosemary, thyme, oregano, or chili flakes.
Conclusion:
Pan-fried garlic bread is a quick and easy side dish that's perfect for any occasion. It's crispy, buttery, and garlicky, and it's sure to be a hit with everyone at the table. So next time you're looking for a delicious and easy side dish, give pan-fried garlic bread a try. You won't be disappointed!
