Like fried cabbage? Then you are in for a treat. This is easy and most kids are actually surprised that it tastes better than it looks! I add about 2 tablespoons sugar simply to soften the taste and make my kids happy. But it is delicious without the sugar, and when I leave it out, I don't tell them and they never say a word!

Tips:

  • Choose firm, vibrant Brussels sprouts: Avoid any that are wilted or have brown spots.
  • Trim the Brussels sprouts properly: Cut off the stem end and remove any yellow or damaged outer leaves.
  • Slice the Brussels sprouts thinly: This will help them cook evenly and quickly.
  • Use a combination of cooking techniques: Pan-frying and then roasting the Brussels sprouts gives them a nice caramelized exterior and tender interior.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: Cook the Brussels sprouts in batches if necessary to avoid steaming them instead of browning them.
  • Season the Brussels sprouts well: Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are all great options.
  • Add some herbs or spices for extra flavor: Thyme, rosemary, and paprika are all good choices.
  • Serve the Brussels sprouts immediately: They're best enjoyed hot out of the oven.
