- Combine 2 cups sugar, flour, 1 cup cocoa powder, baking powder, salt, and baking soda in a bowl.

- Whip 3/4 cup plus 1 1/2 tablespoon heavy cream in a bowl with an electric mixer until soft peaks form. Fold in 1 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons mascarpone cheese, 7 tablespoons cocoa powder, and 1/4 cup sugar gently to make frosting.
- Spread 1 tablespoon frosting over each cooled cupcake.

OREO OWL CUPCAKES RECIPE - (4.4/5)

Steps:
- The photo is pretty much self explanatory for assembling cupcakes but basic directions are below. Bake and cool cupcakes. They need to be flat on top so trim off any excess straight across with a sharp paring knife before frosting. Frost cupcakes with chocolate frosting. In the meantime, while cupcakes are cooling, prepare the Oreos by separating them in the middle to expose the filling on one half, leaving the other half clean. (A slight twist should work.) You will need 2 frosted halves and 1 clean half (cut in half), plus 2 brown candies and 1 orange (or yellow) candy for each cupcake. I recommend preparing all the cookies and attaching the brown candy "eyes" to the frosted halves (just press slightly into the filling) BEFORE you start assembling the cupcakes. Assemble the cupcakes. (Refer to photo for placement.) As I finished each cupcake I placed it in the refrigerator to set the frosting while I worked on the others. HOOT, HOOT!!
OWL CUPCAKES
If the cream filling of the sandwich cookies is discolored by cookie crumbs when twisted open, gently scrape with a paring knife to remove loose crumbs before using.

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line 2 standard 12-cup muffin tins with paper liners. Divide half of batter evenly among lined muffin tin cups (about a heaping tablespoon per cup). Press 2 cookie halves without frosting into each cup, then divide remaining batter evenly atop cookies. Bake until tops spring back when touched, about 20 minutes. Transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
- Divide frosting evenly among cupcakes. Place 2 cookie halves with filling side-by-side in center of cupcakes, pressing to adhere to frosting. Press 1 button-shaped chocolate into center of each frosted cookie to mimic pupils. Press another chocolate into frosting perpendicular to the other candies and centered, just below cookies to mimic a beak. Press almonds, if using, into frosting above cookie-eyes in rows to mimic feathers, or scrape frosting with the tip of a paring knife in short, upward strokes to create a feathery look.

Tips:
- Prep Ahead: To save time, you can bake the cupcakes, make the frosting, and even assemble the owls ahead of time. Just keep them stored separately in the refrigerator or freezer until you're ready to assemble and decorate.
- Perfect Frosting Consistency: For the perfect frosting consistency, make sure it's not too thick or too runny. If it's too thick, add a little more milk or cream. If it's too runny, beat in a little more powdered sugar.
- Chill Your Cupcakes: Before frosting, chill the cupcakes for at least 30 minutes. This will help the frosting adhere better and give you a cleaner finish.
- Get Creative with Decorations: Use different colored frosting, sprinkles, candy melts, and other decorations to create unique and fun owl cupcakes. Let your imagination run wild!
- Patience is Key: Decorating cupcakes can be a bit time-consuming, so be patient and take your time. The results will be worth it!
Conclusion:
Owl cupcakes are a fun and delicious treat that are perfect for any occasion. With a little creativity, you can create unique and eye-catching cupcakes that will be the hit of the party. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat to make, give these owl cupcakes a try!
