Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients. Fresh, flavorful ingredients will make your strata even more delicious. Use a good quality sausage, bread, and cheese. Experiment with a sausage blend like maple, sage, or garlic herb. If you can't find brioche loaf, use any bread of your choice, such as French bread, challah, or an Italian loaf. And don't be afraid to mix and match your cheeses.
  • Make sure the bread is dry. If the bread is too wet, the strata will be soggy. If you're using fresh bread, let it sit out for a few hours or overnight to dry out. You can also toast the bread before assembling the strata.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing will make the strata tough. Stir just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Use a large baking dish. You want the strata to have plenty of room to rise. A 9x13 inch baking dish is a good size.
  • Bake the strata until it is golden brown and bubbly. The strata is done when a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. If top browns too quickly, tent the strata with aluminum foil.
  • Let the strata rest for a few minutes before serving. This will help the strata set and make it easier to slice.

Conclusion:

Overnight sausage strata is a delicious and easy breakfast casserole that is perfect for a busy morning. It can be made with a variety of ingredients, so you can customize it to your liking. Just be sure to use high-quality ingredients and follow the tips above for the best results.
