Time 55m

Number Of Ingredients 9

2 medium sweet potatoes, washed and dried
1 Tbsp olive oil, extra virgin
1 Tbsp parmesan cheese, grated
1 tsp smoked paprika (more if you like)
1 tsp coarse salt
1/8 tsp ground black pepper
1/8 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp cumin

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
  • 2. Cut potatoes into 1/4″ thin strips, or to desired thickness. NOTE: you can peel or not peel the potatoes. Soak potatoes in ice water for 30 minutes. Drain and blot dry with paper towels.
  • 3. Combine the dry ingredients in a ziploc bag. Add potatoes to bag; drizzle oil over potatoes. Seal bag and shake to coat potatoes with seasoning.
  • 4. Spread the potatoes evenly on a baking sheet prepared with parchment paper. Don't overcrowd the sheet, or have multiple layers of fries.
  • 5. Place in oven and bake 20-25 minutes. (May take more or less time, depending on the size of the fries.) Remove once the edges slightly begin to brown and fries begin to crisp.

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: For the best results, select sweet potatoes that are firm and free of blemishes. Avoid potatoes that are soft or have bruises.
  • Cut the potatoes evenly: To ensure that the fries cook evenly, cut the potatoes into uniform strips. This will help them cook at the same rate.
  • Toss the potatoes with oil and seasonings: Before roasting, toss the potatoes with oil and your desired seasonings. This will help them crisp up and develop flavor.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When roasting the potatoes, make sure to spread them out in a single layer on the baking sheet. Overcrowding the pan will prevent the potatoes from cooking evenly.
  • Roast the potatoes at a high temperature: To achieve crispy fries, roast the potatoes at a high temperature (425°F or 220°C). This will help them brown and caramelize.
  • Flip the potatoes halfway through cooking: To ensure that the potatoes cook evenly, flip them over halfway through the roasting time.
  • Serve the fries hot: Roasted sweet potato fries are best served hot and crispy. Enjoy them on their own or with your favorite dipping sauce.

Conclusion:

Oven-roasted sweet potato fries are a delicious and healthy snack or side dish. They are easy to make and can be seasoned to your liking. With a few simple tips, you can make perfect roasted sweet potato fries every time. So next time you're looking for a tasty and nutritious snack, give these fries a try. You won't be disappointed!
