Tips:

  • Choose small and fresh Brussels sprouts: Smaller ones tend to be more tender and flavorful. Look for firm, deep green sprouts without any signs of yellowing or wilting.
  • Trim and halve the Brussels sprouts: Cut off the stem end and any discolored outer leaves. Then, halve the Brussels sprouts lengthwise.
  • Roast the Brussels sprouts at a high temperature: This will help them caramelize and develop a crispy exterior. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) before roasting.
  • Toss the Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper: This will help them roast evenly and develop flavor.
  • Add flavorful ingredients: In addition to olive oil, salt, and pepper, you can add other ingredients to the Brussels sprouts before roasting. Some popular choices include bacon, dried figs, nuts, and cheese.
  • Roast the Brussels sprouts until they are tender and slightly charred: This usually takes about 20-25 minutes. Shake the pan halfway through roasting to ensure even cooking.
  • Serve the Brussels sprouts immediately: They are best enjoyed hot out of the oven.

Conclusion:

Oven-roasted Brussels sprouts are a delicious and healthy side dish that can be enjoyed year-round. They are easy to make and can be customized to your liking. With their slightly sweet and nutty flavor, Brussels sprouts are a great addition to any meal.
