My family's eyes light up when I bring a plate of these ribs to the table, and company never suspects how easy they are to prepare. -Yvonne White Williamson, New York

1/2 c water
1/4 c cider viniegar
1/4 c finely choped onion
3 Tbsp brown sugar, firmly packed
2 Tbsp worcestershire sauce
1 Tbsp lemon juice
1 Tbsp paprika
1 tsp dry mustard

RIBS
2 or 3 lb ribs (deer, elk, antelope, pork, beef, moose, or whatever)

Steps:

  • 1. Venison Ribs: Extra step: Boil ribs in water first..and after boiling, one could let the water cool after the boiling part and skim off the fat after in collects on the top. I've done that. I've let them set until the fat coagulates on top and skimmed it off with a pancake spatula. Drain ribs. Beef or Pork ribs:Follow directions below. no need to do extra step.
  • 2. In a small bowl, combine all sauce ingredients. Mix well. The sauce does a lot for the meat. In Dutch oven, combine ribs, 2 cups water with 3/4 cups of sauce, reserving remaining sauce. Heat rib mixture to boiling. Reduce heat; cover.
  • 3. Simmer until ribs until ribs are tender, about one hour, rearrangeing ribs once or twice.
  • 4. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Arrange ribs in roasting pan and brush with sauce. Bake 10 minutes and turn ribs over and brush with more sauce. Bake 10 minutes longer. Serve with remaining sauce.
  • 5. "Actually I just dump all the remaining sauce on the second time and let 'em bubble in it. That heats the sauce and one can spoon it into a serving bowl when the bibs are served." "Have plenty of napkins available." "Enjoy...."

Mouth-Watering Oven Barbecued Ribs image

These oven barbecued ribs are a compilation of several different recipes and techniques. They are so good they can even hold their own against charcoal barbecued ribs! TRAVELING OVEN-BARBECUED BABY BACK RIBS

Traveling Oven-Barbecued Baby Back Ribs image

I fixed these ribs for the 4th of July. My son-in-law did not have to brave the heat to barbecue (which he greatly appreciated), and my kitchen was cooled off by the time I returned home after our celebration. Putting the ribs in the already heated slow cooker kept them nice and warm on my 20-minute drive.

HOT OVEN BARBECUED RIBS

Hot Oven Barbecued Ribs image

This is an adopted recipe from Mean Chef. I have since tried this recipe, I have found that it does have a little bit of a bite to it with a very nice lemon after taste. If I were to make it again I would cut down on the hot sauce just a little. My DH thought it was a bit to hot, but to me it just had a bite. The ribs turned out perfectly tender. I also squeezed my lemons in a bowl then added to the blender, so I would not get any seeds in there. I also mixed my, Salt, black pepper and red pepper flakes together before putting on my ribs. In the very end of cooking I also put them under the broiler just for a minute or so.

  • Slice lemon rinds and set aside.
  • Add green pepper, onion and celery to blender and puree.
  • Transfer mixture to 3-quart saucepan.
  • Stir in tomato puree, sugar, hot sauce, red pepper flakes and reserved lemon rinds.

  • Use a flavorful barbecue sauce: Baste the ribs with a tangy and smoky barbecue sauce during the last 30 minutes of cooking.
  • Let the ribs rest: Allow the ribs to rest for a few minutes before serving to let the juices redistribute.
