Time 32m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

crisco nonstick cooking spray
2 large idaho potatoes or 2 large russet potatoes, scrubbed and cut into 1/4 inch slices
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground pepper (I used less pepper)
1/2 teaspoon paprika (I used about 1/4 teaspoon)

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 45°.
  • Cover baking sheet with heavy-duty aluminum foil.
  • Spray foil with Crisco no-stick spray.
  • Arrange potato slices on baking sheet.
  • Spray with Crisco spray.
  • Combine salt, pepper and paprika.
  • Sprinkle mixture on potato slices.
  • Bake at 450° for 10 minutes.
  • Remove pan from oven.
  • Turn slices with a spatula.
  • Bake 5-7 minutes, longer, or until potato slices are lightly browned.
  • Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Choose the right potatoes: Russet potatoes are the best choice for baking, as they have a high starch content that makes them fluffy and tender when cooked.
  • Wash the potatoes thoroughly before slicing them to remove any dirt or debris.
  • Slice the potatoes evenly so that they cook evenly. Aim for slices that are about 1/4-inch thick.
  • Toss the potato slices in olive oil, salt, and pepper to coat them evenly. You can also add other seasonings, such as garlic powder, onion powder, or paprika.
  • Spread the potato slices in a single layer on a baking sheet. Do not overcrowd the pan, or the potatoes will not cook evenly.
  • Bake the potato slices at a high temperature (425 degrees Fahrenheit) for 20-25 minutes, or until they are tender and golden brown.
  • Serve the potato slices immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as ketchup, sour cream, or ranch dressing.

Conclusion:

Oven-baked potato slices are a delicious and versatile side dish that can be served with a variety of meals. They are also a great snack or appetizer. With just a few simple ingredients and a little bit of time, you can create a delicious and satisfying dish that the whole family will enjoy. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy side dish, give oven-baked potato slices a try.
