Parmesan Baked Chicken Strips Recipe image

Parmesan Baked Chicken Strips Recipe - golden, tender & juicy. Coated in a cheesy crust w/ a marinara dipping sauce, the whole family will love these!

Provided by Holly Sander

Time 30m

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 boneless chicken breasts, fat and skin removed and cut into 12 strips (or 12 chicken tenders)
1 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
2/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
3 tablespoons minced parsley
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup plus 1 tablespoon melted butter
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
3 cloves garlic, minced

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Mix the bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, salt, and pepper together in a shallow pie dish or a deep plate.
  • Mix the butter, lemon juice and garlic together in a second shallow pie dish or deep plate.
  • Dip both sides of the chicken in the butter mixture, coating it well.
  • Quickly place the chicken on the bread crumb mixture and toss the crumbs up over the edges and top of chicken breast, using either your hands or a spoon. Gently press the chicken so the crumbs on the bottom side stick to the chicken. Now turn the chicken over and again press that side into the crumbs.
  • Arrange breaded chicken strips on the baking sheet and repeat steps 3 and 4 with the rest of the chicken.
  • When all chicken is prepped, bake uncovered (on the middle rack of the oven) for 20 minutes or until a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees when inserted in the thickest part of the chicken breast.
  • If strips aren't as golden as desired, reduce the bake time by one minute and broil on the middle rack of the oven for one minute. Be sure to watch them closely to make sure they don't burn.

1 cup buttermilk
1 1/2 pounds chicken tenders (about 18)
3 large garlic cloves, minced
1/2 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
Freshly ground black pepper
1 1/4 cups freshly grated Parmesan
3/4 cup Italian-style seasoned bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.

These are so fast and just plain delicious as either an entree or an appetizer. The aroma is just like pizza as they're baking, very tempting! They're nice with a marinara dipping sauce, but I actually like them plain, with garlic bread and a salad. And if you line your baking sheet with foil, clean-up is a snap!

QUICK BAKED CHICKEN PARMESAN

Quick Baked Chicken Parmesan image

In this lighter version of chicken Parmesan I skip the pan-frying in oil and instead bake lightly-breaded chicken breasts in the oven, then top with sauce and cheese. My family's not big on lots of sauce and cheese, so I just use a little to flavor the dish. Feel free to add more if you like, but it's excellent as-is. Serve chicken over pasta with additional sauce.

Time 1h15m

Yield 6

Number Of Ingredients 12

canola oil cooking spray
½ cup water
1 egg, beaten
1 ½ cups bread crumbs
6 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese, divided
1 tablespoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
½ teaspoon dried thyme
½ teaspoon garlic powder
6 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
2 cups spaghetti sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
  • Whisk water and egg together in a bowl until smooth. Combine bread crumbs, 2 tablespoons Parmesan cheese, oregano, basil, thyme, and garlic powder in a separate bowl.
  • Dip each chicken breast in egg mixture, allowing excess egg to drip back into bowl. Coat each chicken breast in bread crumb mixture, shaking off excess. Repeat dipping each coated chicken breast in the egg mixture and the bread crumb mixture for a double-coating and place in the prepared baking dish. Spray breaded chicken breasts with cooking spray.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 40 minutes. Pour spaghetti sauce over each chicken breast and top each with mozzarella cheese and remaining Parmesan cheese. Continue baking until chicken is no longer pink in the center and the cheeses are melted, about 15 minutes more. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center should read at least 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).

Tips:

  • Use fresh chicken breasts: Fresh chicken breasts will yield the best results in terms of flavor and texture.
  • Cut the chicken breasts into even strips: This will help them cook evenly.
  • Use a good quality Parmesan cheese: A good quality Parmesan cheese will have a stronger flavor and will melt better than a cheaper cheese.
  • Don't overcrowd the baking sheet: If you overcrowd the baking sheet, the chicken strips will not cook evenly.
  • Bake the chicken strips until they are golden brown: This will ensure that they are cooked through.
  • Serve the chicken strips with your favorite dipping sauce: Ranch dressing, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce are all good options.

Conclusion:

Oven-baked Parmesan chicken strips are a quick and easy weeknight meal that the whole family will enjoy. They are crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and full of flavor. Serve them with your favorite dipping sauce and enjoy!
