BBQ CHICKEN LEG AND THIGHS

BBQ Chicken Leg and Thighs image

Make and share this BBQ Chicken Leg and Thighs recipe from Food.com.

Provided by foodart

Categories     Chicken Thigh & Leg

Time 1h35m

Yield 12 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 11

12 chicken legs
12 chicken thighs
salt
pepper
onion powder
garlic powder
16 ounces barbecue sauce, Bullseye brand
1/2 cup maple syrup, Mrs. Butterworth
1/2 cup catsup
1/4 cup maple syrup, Mrs. Butterworth
green onion

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450°.
  • Place chicken legs and thighs onto a full half size baking pan and coat with the salt, pepper and seasoning blend. Pour in the bottle of the bbq sauce, maple syrup and catsup and blend together. And let it stand for 30 minutes.
  • Place into the oven for 50 minutes. Remove and let the chicken rest for 15 minutes before serving. Before serve pour in the 1/4 cup Mrs. Butterworth maple syrup and top with minced green onions.

Tips:

  • Choose the right chicken legs: Look for chicken legs that are evenly sized and have a good amount of meat on them. Avoid any legs that are bruised or have any signs of spoilage.
  • Marinate the chicken legs: Marinating the chicken legs in a flavorful mixture of spices, herbs, and liquids will help to tenderize the meat and add flavor. You can use a variety of marinades, but some popular options include a mixture of olive oil, garlic, paprika, and chili powder, or a mixture of yogurt, lemon juice, cumin, and coriander.
  • Cook the chicken legs at a high temperature: This will help to create a crispy skin and juicy meat. The ideal cooking temperature for chicken legs is 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Baste the chicken legs with the marinade or barbecue sauce: This will help to keep the chicken legs moist and prevent them from drying out. You can baste the chicken legs every 15-20 minutes during cooking.
  • Cook the chicken legs until they are cooked through: The best way to tell if the chicken legs are cooked through is to use a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature has reached 165 degrees Fahrenheit.

Conclusion:

Oven-baked BBQ chicken legs are a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for any occasion. By following these tips, you can ensure that your chicken legs turn out perfectly cooked and flavorful.
