BAKED BACON (OVEN FRIED BACON)

Baked Bacon (Oven Fried Bacon) image

Serves 100; allow 3 slices per serving. Reduce bacon by 6 lbs. for 2 slices per person. I used bacon I got over the meat counter in the store, so it was thicker. There were 12 slices per pound, so ask your butcher to weigh a pound and then count the slices. That way you'll have the correct amount. The bread is only here because I need more then one ingredient to post this. I like to fix ours this way when we have BLT's. Then all the bacon is still warm when we sit down to eat.

Time 30m

Yield 100 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 2

18 lbs thick sliced bacon
1 teaspoon oil (optional)

Steps:

  • Oil not needed, only for a second ingredient so it would post.
  • Arrange slices in rows, across pans with fat edges slightly overlapping lean edges.
  • Bake 375 degrees without turning 20-25 minutes (depending on thickness) until bacon is slightly crisp.
  • I have been draining the grease and flipping the bacon, then back in the oven for 5 minutes or so.
  • Watch closely.
  • DO NOT OVERCOOK.
  • Drain or skim off excess fat at needed.
  • Drain thoroughly on paper towels.
  • For those with a convection oven use 325 degrees 20-25 minutes.
  • The longer you bake after 20 minutes the greater the risk of producing a dry, burnt piece of bacon.

Dutch Oven Baked Beans with Crisp Bacon Recipe - (4.3/5) image

3 tablespoons vegetable oil
5 garlic cloves, minced
1 Pablono chili, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced salt
2 cups sweet and sticky B.B.Q. sauce. ( your favorite, but I recommend " Baby Ray's Honey )
2 15 1/2 ounce cans baked beans ( again, your fav.)
1 (19-ounce) can red kidney beans, drained and rinced
1 (19-ounce) can pinto beans, drained and rinced
2 to 3 pounds lean bacon, thin sliced

Steps:

  • In a 12" Dutch oven, with about 14 to 16 charcoals under, heat oil, saute garlic, onions, and chili, salt to taste; stirring occasionally, until the vegetables are tinder. About 8 minutes. Remove veggies, and reserve. Remove from heat, line the oven with the bacon up the inside of oven and let hang over the out side. In a mixing bowl; mix all the beans and the B.B.Q. sauce, and veggies. Pour the bean mixture in the bacon lined Dutch oven. Lay the bacon over the top of the beans in the reverse direction as you put them in. Made a neat pinwheel. Place lid on oven with 18 to 20 charcoals in top, and only 8 to 10 under the oven. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes or until bacon is crisp. Let cool 10 to 15 minutes, and serve.

BACON WRAPPED OVEN BAKED PORTOBELLA MUSHROOMS

Bacon Wrapped Oven Baked Portobella Mushrooms image

I am posting this recipe especially for my daughter Briana, who recently discovered that she really does love mushrooms. This no-fail step by step instructions is sure to please those that think they do not like mushrooms. These taste like a big juicy hamburger wrapped in the smoked crispy bacon slices. They are quite filling as...

Provided by Rose Mary Mogan

Categories     Sandwiches

Time 1h20m

Number Of Ingredients 12

3 large portobello mushrooms
1 small green bell pepper, sliced into strips
6 mini sweet peppers, cut into ringlets, assorted colors
4 clove garlic, sliced thinly or minced
6 medium slices onions, left intact
3 slice super sharp cheddar cheese
3/4 c sharp cheddar cheese shreds 1/4 cup each burger, or cheese of choice
9 slice regular cut bacon
3 large onion hamburger buns or buns of choice
4 Tbsp olive oil, divided
lettuce & tomatoes, as desired
mustard & mayonnaise, if desired

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  • 2. Brush mushrooms clean with a paper towel. Remove stems from the underside with a sharp knife, and save. The brown underside is referred to as the gills. Using a tablespoon remove the gills from the underside of each mushroom & discard.
  • 3. Chop the stems into small pieces. Remove the outer skin from the garlic and slice thin or mince as you prefer. Then, slice the green pepper into thin strips and the mini peppers into ringlets. Combine together and prepare to saute. Slice the onions into medium thick slices and set aside until needed
  • 4. Brush the top and underside of each mushroom with the olive oil. The mushrooms absorb the oil as you brush them. Reserve the remaining oil to saute the peppers and garlic.
  • 5. Spray a large shallow pan with non-stick cooking spray. Then place the mushroom caps on pan inverted upside down.
  • 6. Top each with a slice of sharp cheddar cheese. Next, add 2 slices of onions on each piece of cheese.
  • 7. Saute assorted pepper mixture over medium low heat in 2 tablespoons of olive oil, about 4 to 5 minutes or until transparent. Remove from heat.
  • 8. Top each mushroom cap with an even amount of sauteed peppers. Then top each with quarter cup shredded cheese.
  • 9. Now, using room temperature smoked bacon, wrap each mushroom in the bacon slices, tucking the ends underneath the bottom, creating an X pattern. Then with the third strip of bacon place it over the center of the X tucking it underneath.
  • 10. Repeat until they have all been wrapped.
  • 11. Place pan in preheated 375 degree oven and bake for 25 minutes.
  • 12. Then increase the temperature to 400 degrees F and cook for an additional 20 minutes or until bacon is crisp on top and slightly golden brown.
  • 13. Serve on fresh or toasted buns as desired. Add condiments of choice, lettuce, and tomato. Enjoy.
  • 14. Look inside at all the tasty goodness.

Provided by JUDY2949

Number Of Ingredients 12

Sauce:
1(8-oz) container1 (8-oz) container sour cream
1(8-oz) jar1 (8-oz) jar mayonnaise
1(1-oz) package1 (1-oz) package ranch seasoning and salad dressing mix
1/2tsp1/2 tsp ground black pepper
4Tbsp4 Tbsp real bacon bits
1stalk1 stalk celery, finely chopped
Wings:
2424 chicken wings
1tsp1 tsp ground black pepper
1tsp1 tsp celery salt
1(1-oz) package1 (1-oz) package ranch seasoning and salad dressing mix

Steps:

  • To prepare the sauce, place all the ingredients listed above into a small bowl and mix until well incorporated. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 8 hours, or overnight. To prepare the wings, place the wings, pepper, celery salt, and ranch seasoning in a large plastic bag. Close the bag and shake it really well until all the wings are evenly coated. Refrigerate and marinate overnight, or at least 8 hours. Place the oven rack in the middle and preheat to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and lightly grease with oil spray. Remove the wings from the plastic bag and place them on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Bake until cooked through, and the skin is crispy, 40-45 minutes. Let them rest 3-4 minutes. Place the wings into a large bowl and add half the sauce. Toss until evenly coated. Serve with the remaining sauce on the side for dipping.

Tips:

  • Choose the right bacon: Select high-quality bacon with even marbling and a good meat-to-fat ratio. Thick-cut bacon is preferred for its better flavor and texture.
  • Prepare the oven and baking sheet: Preheat the oven to the recommended temperature (usually around 400°F or 200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup and to prevent the bacon from sticking.
  • Arrange the bacon strips: Place the bacon strips in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, leaving some space between each strip to allow for even cooking.
  • Set the timer: The cooking time for bacon in the oven can vary depending on the thickness of the bacon and your desired level of crispiness. Start with the recommended cooking time and check the bacon periodically to prevent overcooking.
  • Drain the bacon on paper towels: Once the bacon is cooked to your liking, transfer it to a paper towel-lined plate to drain the excess grease. This will help keep the bacon crispy and prevent it from becoming soggy.

Conclusion:

Baking bacon in the oven is a convenient and healthier alternative to traditional frying methods. It allows for more even cooking and reduces the amount of grease and splatter. By following these tips and using the provided recipes, you can easily make crispy, delicious bacon in your own oven. Enjoy your perfectly cooked bacon as a standalone snack, as a topping for salads, sandwiches, and burgers, or as an ingredient in various dishes. Experiment with different flavors and seasonings to create your own unique bacon variations.
