CREAMY GARLIC PARMESAN ORZO
This Creamy Garlic Parmesan Orzo can be on your table in 15 minutes! While it's perfect as a side dish, I prefer this as a meal on its own because it's cheesy, creamy and really hits the spot.

- Add the orzo to the skillet and let it cook for about 2 minutes just in the oil so that it starts to toast lightly, this will give it a nutty flavor.
- Season with salt and pepper then stir in the chicken broth and half and half. Bring to a boil, then turn the heat down to a medium-low, cover with a lid and let it cook for 5 minutes.

Steps:
- Melt butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat; stir in the orzo and garlic and saute until the garlic is fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add the potatoes, carrots and onion to the pan and continue to cook and stir until the onion and carrot become tender (5-10 minutes).
- Season the mixture with the basil, oregano, salt and pepper (remember the parmesan will also add saltiness).
- Add the water to the pan and bring to a boil.
- Partially cover the pan, reduce heat to a simmer and cook about 12 minutes, or until the orzo is tender and the water is nearly completely absorbed (remove cover after 12 minutes if you need still to cook a good deal of liquid off).
- Stir in the parmesan cheese and serve immediately.

Tips:
- Use a large skillet or Dutch oven: This will ensure that the orzo and potatoes have enough room to cook evenly.
- Don't overcrowd the pan: If you add too much orzo and potatoes to the pan, they will not cook evenly and will be more likely to stick together.
- Cook the orzo and potatoes in batches if necessary: If you have a small skillet or Dutch oven, you may need to cook the orzo and potatoes in batches.
- Stir the orzo and potatoes frequently: This will help to prevent them from sticking together and will also help them to cook evenly.
- Add the broth or water gradually: This will help to prevent the orzo and potatoes from becoming too mushy.
- Season the orzo and potatoes to taste: You can add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, or other seasonings to taste.
- Top the orzo and potatoes with Parmesan cheese before serving: This will add a delicious cheesy flavor to the dish.
Conclusion:
Orzo and potato parmesan is a simple but delicious dish that is perfect for a weeknight meal. It is also a great dish to take to potlucks and gatherings. The orzo and potatoes are cooked in a flavorful broth with Parmesan cheese, and the dish is topped with even more Parmesan cheese before serving. This dish is sure to please everyone at the table.
