Oregon has an abundance of nuts, and these nutty cookies are popular with the ladies at my craft club. Growing up during the Depression, my mother taught us to use what was available and said, 'It doesn't have to be expensive to be good.' She was right!

Tips:

  • Use high-quality chocolate chips for the best flavor. Look for chips made with real cocoa butter and a high percentage of cacao solids.
  • To achieve a chewy texture, chill the cookie dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Don't overmix the cookie dough, as this can result in tough, dry cookies. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Bake the cookies at a moderate temperature (350°F) for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown and the centers are set. Overbaking will result in dry, crumbly cookies.
  • Let the cookies cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This will help prevent them from breaking.
  • For a special touch, drizzle the cookies with melted chocolate or caramel sauce before serving.

Conclusion:

These Hazelnut Chocolate Chip Cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With their chewy texture, rich chocolate flavor, and nutty crunch, these cookies are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them.
