ORANGE SLICE COOKIES RECIPE

Orange Slice Cookies Recipe image

Provided by lmeyer

Number Of Ingredients 14

2 cups flour
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup white sugar
1/2 cup Crisco
1/2 cup oleo
1 tsp milk
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup coconut
2 cup quick oatmeal
1 cup orange slices(cut and sprinkled with flour)

Steps:

  • Mix flour, soda, salt and baking powder together. In a separate bowl cream together brown and white sugar, Crisco, oleo, milk, eggs and vanilla. Add the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture. Mix in by hand the coconut, oatmeal and orange slices. Bake at 350 degree's for 12-15 minutes. Recipe from Clara Everding

Tips:

  • Use fresh oranges for the best flavor. If you don't have fresh oranges, you can use bottled or frozen orange juice, but the cookies will not have the same fresh orange taste.
  • Grate the orange zest finely. This will help to release the orange flavor into the cookies.
  • Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. This will help to create a smooth and creamy cookie dough.
  • Gradually add the eggs to the cookie dough, one at a time, beating well after each addition. This will help to prevent the cookie dough from curdling.
  • Stir in the flour, baking soda, and salt until just combined. Do not overmix the dough, or the cookies will be tough.
  • Chill the cookie dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This will help to prevent the cookies from spreading too much in the oven.
  • Bake the cookies at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are just beginning to brown. Do not overbake the cookies, or they will be dry and crumbly.
  • Let the cookies cool on a wire rack before frosting.
  • For a fun and festive touch, decorate the cookies with orange slices and sprinkles.

Conclusion:

Orange slice cookies are a delicious and easy-to-make treat that is perfect for any occasion. With their bright and citrusy flavor, these cookies are sure to be a hit with everyone who tries them. So next time you are looking for a sweet and simple cookie recipe, give these orange slice cookies a try. You won't be disappointed!
