1/2 cup butter, softened
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 large egg
2 tablespoons orange juice
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
1/2 teaspoon lemon extract
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
1 cup finely chopped pecans

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, cream the butter, shortening and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg, orange juice, orange zest and extracts. Combine the flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in pecans. Shape dough into four 5-in. rolls; wrap each in plastic. Refrigerate for 3-4 hours or until firm., Unwrap and cut into 1/4-in. slices. Place 2 in. apart on greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 9-10 minutes or until edges begin to brown. 1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 egg
2 1/2 cups Gold Medal™ flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/4 cup chopped crystallized ginger
1/4 cup decorator sugar crystals

Steps:

  • In large bowl, beat butter, granulated sugar and brown sugar with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Beat in orange peel, orange juice and egg until blended. On low speed, beat in flour, baking powder and salt. Stir in pecans and ginger.
  • Divide dough in half. Shape each half into 10-inch log. Sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the sugar crystals on sheet of plastic wrap; roll 1 log in sugar to coat. Wrap log in plastic wrap. Repeat with remaining log and sugar crystals. Refrigerate about 3 hours or until very firm.
  • Heat oven to 375°F. Cut logs into 1/4-inch slices. On ungreased cookie sheets, place slices 2 inches apart.

1 cup finely chopped pecans
¾ cup butter, softened
½ cup confectioners' sugar
2 tablespoons grated orange zest, divided
½ teaspoon vanilla extract

½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Canola-oil cooking spray
