Categories     Oranges

Time 5m

Yield 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 12

1/2 cup orange juice (preferably fresh)
3 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar
1 medium onion, chopped
1 tablespoon grated orange zest
1 1/2 teaspoons chopped fresh thyme (or 1/2 tsp dried thyme)
6 whole cloves
1/3 teaspoon ground allspice
1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
1 bay leaf, crumbled
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Steps:

  • Whisk together all ingredients in a bowl.
  • Use to marinate chicken breasts or pork tenderloin in the refrigerator overnight.
  • Brush with marinade while cooking.

Tips:

  • Choose the right oranges: Use fresh, ripe oranges with a sweet and juicy flavor. Avoid oranges that are too sour or bitter.
  • Use a variety of herbs and spices: Experiment with different herbs and spices to create a unique marinade. Some popular choices include garlic, ginger, thyme, rosemary, and cumin.
  • Let the meat marinate for at least 30 minutes: The longer the meat marinates, the more flavorful it will be. If you're short on time, you can marinate the meat for as little as 15 minutes, but the flavor will be less intense.
  • Use the marinade as a sauce: Once the meat is cooked, you can use the marinade as a sauce. Simply heat the marinade in a saucepan until it is simmering and slightly thickened.

Conclusion:

Orange honey marinade is a versatile and delicious way to add flavor to your favorite meats. It's easy to make and can be used on a variety of proteins, including chicken, pork, beef, and fish. Next time you're looking for a new way to cook your meat, try using an orange honey marinade. You won't be disappointed!
