ORANGE COFFEE JELLO

Orange Coffee Jello image

I love coffee jello and I love the combination of coffee and orange, so I came up with this. For the orange flavour I used orange essence # 340691. For the sweetener I just made up the amount of 1 tablespoon, but as I used rice syrup and don't make my jello really sweet, I'd suggest that you just make your coffee as sweet as you're used to. For the gelatine I used 3/4 bag of ground gelatine (1 bag is for 2 cups of liquid) which I soaked in the orange essence and two tablespoons water and then stirred into the still hot coffee. As packages of ground gelatine don't seem to be listed, I suggest 5 sheets gelatine which you should soak and dissolve according to package directions. Prep / cook time does not include chilling time.

Categories     Easy Side Dishes

Time 4h10m

Number Of Ingredients 6

4 cups water
6 oz Orange Jello Mix
3 ounce instant vanilla pudding
11 ounce can Mandarin oranges, drained
1/2 of a 20 ounce can of Pineapple chunks, drained
One 8 ounce container cool whip

Steps:

  • Mix together 4 cups of water, orange jello mix, and vanilla pudding mix in a sauce pan. Bring to a boil, stirring the whole time to keep clumps from forming. Once it starts to boil, remove from heat. Pour into a heat-resistant container (I usually use a glass baking dish), cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about four hours. Remove from fridge and break up the jello into chunks. Place in a large bowl. Add in the pineapple, mandarin oranges, and whipped cream and mix around until everything is combined. Keep refrigerated until you are ready to serve.

Tips:

  • Use fresh oranges: Fresh oranges provide the best flavor for this jello salad. If you don't have fresh oranges, you can use frozen or canned oranges, but the flavor will not be as good.
  • Choose a good quality coffee: The type of coffee you use will also affect the flavor of the jello salad. Choose a coffee that you enjoy drinking. I recommend using a medium-roast coffee.
  • Don't overcook the coffee: When you are making the coffee, don't overcook it. Overcooked coffee will have a bitter taste.
  • Let the jello salad chill completely: Before serving the jello salad, let it chill completely in the refrigerator. This will help the jello to set properly and will also allow the flavors to meld together.
  • Garnish with whipped cream or fruit: When serving the jello salad, you can garnish it with whipped cream or fresh fruit. This will add a touch of sweetness and color to the salad.

Conclusion:

Orange coffee jello salad is a delicious and refreshing dessert that is perfect for any occasion. It is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. With its unique flavor combination of orange and coffee, this jello salad is sure to be a hit with your family and friends.
