2 1/2 cups powdered sugar, sifted
1/8 tsp. salt

With an electric mixer blend until moistened, beat on low speed for 30 seconds then on medium speed for 2 minutes. Tips:

  • For a smoother frosting, use unsalted butter and bring it to room temperature before creaming it with the sugar.
  • If you don't have an orange on hand, you can use 1/4 teaspoon of orange extract instead.
  • To make a creamier frosting, add 1/4 cup of heavy cream to the frosting mixture.
  • If you want a thicker frosting, add more powdered sugar, one tablespoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency.
  • For a fluffy frosting, beat the butter and sugar together on high speed for 2-3 minutes, or until the mixture is light and airy.
  • To make a glossy frosting, add 1 tablespoon of milk or cream to the frosting mixture.
  • If you're using the frosting to decorate a cake, make sure the cake is completely cool before frosting it.
