OPEN-FACED BEEF STROGANOFF SANDWICH
My mother-in-law & I stumbled across this recipe a number of years ago. Although we both love beef stroganoff we couldn't decide if it would make a good sandwich or not and if this was worth trying. And now we are so glad we did! You can use regular hamburger buns or if you prefer a harder bread, thickly slice a sourdough...

Steps:
- 1. Brown the hamburger, chopped onions, salt & pepper. Drain well.
- 2. Lay out the buns, face up, on a cookie sheet, using both the top & bottom pieces. Or if you prefer the harder bread, cut it into 1-inch slices and lay them on a cookie sheet. Lightly butter each piece of bread.
- 3. Stir the sour cream in to the meat mixture and then spoon onto the bread. Sprinkle with the cheese. Bake at 350 for about 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
Tips:
- Use high-quality ingredients: For the best flavor, use fresh, high-quality ingredients. This means using good quality beef, mushrooms, and onions. It also means using fresh herbs and spices.
- Don't overcook the beef: Beef stroganoff is best when the beef is cooked just until it is tender. Overcooked beef will be tough and chewy.
- Use a good quality sour cream: Sour cream is an essential ingredient in beef stroganoff. Use a good quality sour cream that is thick and creamy. Avoid using sour cream that is thin and runny.
- Serve with your favorite sides: Beef stroganoff can be served with a variety of sides. Some popular options include mashed potatoes, rice, noodles, or egg noodles.
Conclusion:
Beef stroganoff is a classic dish that is easy to make and always a hit with family and friends. With its rich, creamy sauce and tender beef, it's a dish that is sure to please everyone. Whether you serve it over rice, noodles, or mashed potatoes, beef stroganoff is a delicious and satisfying meal that is perfect for any occasion.
