Tips:

  • To devein shrimp quickly and easily, use a pair of kitchen shears to snip along the back of the shrimp, from the head to the tail. Rinse the shrimp under cold water to remove any remaining deveining material.
  • If you don't have a bamboo steamer, you can steam the shrimp in a colander set over a pot of boiling water. Just make sure that the colander is large enough so that the shrimp are not crowded.
  • For a crispy sandwich, use a sturdy bread, such as French bread or sourdough. You can also toast the bread before assembling the sandwich.
  • Feel free to get creative with the toppings. In addition to the suggestions in the recipe, you could also try adding avocado, crumbled bacon, or a squeeze of lemon juice.
