HOTDOGS WITH ONION AND TOMATO RELISH RECIPE - (4.2/5)

Steps:
- Heat a large frying pan with a tsp. of butter. Add the hotdogs and cook until a beautiful golden color. Heat another large frying pan with a tablespoon of olive oil. Add the onions, garlic and jalapeño. Sauté until the onions are slightly golden. Add the tomato and continue to sauté until the tomato is soft. In a small bowl combine the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, vinegar, honey, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, ground cumin and brown sugar. Stir together and add to the pan. Simmer on low while the hot dogs finish cooking. Heat the hotdog buns and place the sliced American cheese on the bun; top with the hotdog and the onion/tomato relish.
Tips:
- Use ripe tomatoes: Rip tomatoes have a sweeter and more flavorful taste, which will result in a more delicious relish.
- Choose the right onions: Yellow or white onions are the best choices for this recipe. Red onions can be used, but they will give the relish a slightly different flavor.
- Don't overcook the relish: The relish should be cooked until the onions and tomatoes are softened, but not mushy. Overcooking the relish will result in a loss of flavor and texture.
- Use fresh herbs: Fresh herbs, such as cilantro, basil, or oregano, can add a burst of flavor to the relish. If you don't have fresh herbs on hand, you can use dried herbs, but use half the amount.
- Let the relish cool before serving: This will allow the flavors to meld and develop. The relish can be served immediately, or it can be stored in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Conclusion:
Onion tomato relish is a versatile condiment that can be used in a variety of dishes. It's great on tacos, burgers, hot dogs, and sandwiches. It can also be used as a topping for salads, grilled vegetables, or fish. With its sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy flavor, onion tomato relish is sure to please everyone at your next gathering. So next time you're looking for a quick and easy way to add some flavor to your meals, give onion tomato relish a try!
