4 (6oz) bone-in center-cut pork chops, trimmed

1 tsp olive oil
1/2 c. chopped onion
1 (8oz) pkg sliced mushrooms
1/2 c. whiskey

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 300. Combine first 6 ingredients in a small bowl. Sprinkle pork with 1/4 tsp salt and 1/8 tsp pepper. Heat oil in a large nonstick skillet over med-high heat. Add pork; saute 5 mins on each side or until golden. Remove pork from pan. Add onion and mushrooms to pan; saute 3 mins. Carefully add whiskey to pan; cook 1 min or until liquid almost evaporates. Stir sour cream mixture into pan. Return pork to pan; spoon sauce over pork. Wrap handle of skillet with foil. Cover and bake at 300 for 1 hour. Serve immediately.

Tips:

  • Choose thick-cut pork chops: This will help ensure that the chops stay juicy and tender during cooking.
  • Use a good quality whiskey: The flavor of the whiskey will be imparted to the pork chops, so it's important to use a whiskey that you enjoy drinking.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: If you overcrowd the pan, the chops will not cook evenly.
  • Cook the chops over medium heat: This will help prevent the chops from drying out.
  • Baste the chops frequently with the whiskey sauce: This will help keep the chops moist and flavorful.
  • Let the chops rest before serving: This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the chops, resulting in a more tender and flavorful bite.

This one-pan whiskey-flavored pork chops recipe is an easy and delicious way to enjoy a classic dish. The whiskey adds a unique and flavorful twist to the pork chops, and the entire dish can be prepared in under 30 minutes.
