Number Of Ingredients 4

1/2 orange slice
1 sugar cube
2-3 dashes Angostura bitters
2 ounces rye or bourbon whiskey

Steps:

  • Muddle the sugar, bitters and orange in an Old-fashioned glass until the sugar is significantly dissolved. Fill the glass with ice and add the whiskey. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and another orange slice. Give the drink a gentle stir and serve with a cocktail straw.

Tips:

  • Choose the Right Fruit: Select fresh, ripe fruit that is in season. This will ensure the best flavor and texture in your cocktail.
  • Use Fresh Herbs: Fresh herbs, such as mint or basil, can add a refreshing and aromatic touch to your Old Fashioned. Muddle them with the fruit to release their flavors.
  • Don't Overdo the Fruit: A little bit of fruit goes a long way in an Old Fashioned. Too much fruit can overwhelm the other flavors in the cocktail.
  • Use Quality Ingredients: As with any cocktail, the quality of your ingredients will make a big difference in the final product. Use a good quality bourbon or rye whiskey, and fresh fruit and herbs.
  • Experiment: Don't be afraid to experiment with different fruits and herbs to find your favorite combination. There are endless possibilities when it comes to creating a delicious Old Fashioned with fruit.

Conclusion:

The Old Fashioned is a classic cocktail that can be enjoyed in many different ways. By adding fruit to the mix, you can create a refreshing and flavorful twist on this timeless drink. Whether you prefer a classic Old Fashioned with a twist of orange or a more adventurous combination of fruits and herbs, there is an Old Fashioned with fruit for everyone.
