Tips:
- Choose ripe dates: Look for dates that are plump and have a deep brown color. Avoid dates that are dry or wrinkled.
- Use a food processor: A food processor makes quick work of chopping the dates and nuts. You can also use a knife, but it will take a little longer.
- Press the crust firmly into the pan: This will help to prevent the crust from crumbling when you cut the squares.
- Chill the squares before serving: Chilling the squares will help them to set and will make them easier to cut.
Conclusion:
These old-fashioned diabetic date squares are a delicious and healthy treat that can be enjoyed by people with diabetes and non-diabetics alike. They are made with wholesome ingredients like dates, nuts, and oats, and they are naturally sweetened with honey. These squares are also a good source of fiber and protein, making them a satisfying snack or dessert.
