SIMPLE SAVORY OATMEAL

Simple Savory Oatmeal image

Want something savory in the morning, but needs to be quick and simple? This is it. I'd compare it most readily to a deluxe cheese grits recipe, but this has no cheese--and grits (unless instant) are typically a bunch more work. This was an alternative for my 10-year-old who always wanted eggs and sausage for breakfast. Fruits and brown sugar in the oatmeal wasn't cutting it.

  • Don't be afraid to add mix-ins. Oatmeal is a blank canvas, so feel free to add whatever you like. Some popular mix-ins include berries, nuts, seeds, and spices. You can also add cooked vegetables or meat for a savory twist.
  • Make it ahead of time. Oatmeal is a great make-ahead breakfast. You can cook it the night before and reheat it in the morning, or you can make overnight oats in the refrigerator.
  • Get creative with your toppings. Oatmeal is delicious on its own, but it's even better with a variety of toppings. Some popular toppings include brown sugar, maple syrup, honey, and fruit. You can also add a dollop of yogurt or cream for a richer flavor.

Conclusion:

Oatmeal is a versatile and delicious grain that can be enjoyed for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. It's a good source of fiber, protein, and vitamins, and it can be made in a variety of ways. Whether you like it sweet or savory, plain or loaded with toppings, there's an oatmeal recipe out there for everyone. So next time you're looking for a warm and comforting meal, give oatmeal a try.
