Categories     Cookies     Chocolate     Dairy     Dessert     Bake     Oat     Gourmet     Kidney Friendly     Vegetarian     Pescatarian     Peanut Free     Tree Nut Free     Soy Free     Kosher

Yield Makes about 72 cookies

Number Of Ingredients 11

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
2 sticks (1 cup) unsalted butter, softened
1 1/4 cups firmly packed light brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups (12 ounces) semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°F.
  • In a bowl whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt, and oats. In another bowl with an electric mixer cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, 1 at a time, beating well after each addition, and beat in vanilla. Beat in flour mixture and stir in chocolate chips.
  • Drop dough by rounded tablespoons 2 inches apart onto buttered baking sheets and bake cookies in batches in middle of oven 12 to 15 minutes, or until golden. Cool cookies on racks.
  • Cookies keep in airtight containers 5 days.

Tips:

  • Use ripe bananas: The riper the bananas, the sweeter and more flavorful your cookies will be.
  • Mash the bananas well: Make sure to mash the bananas until they are completely smooth, with no lumps.
  • Use a combination of chocolate chips and beans: This will give your cookies a delicious and unique flavor and texture.
  • Don't overmix the dough: Overmixing the dough will make your cookies tough. Mix just until the ingredients are combined.
  • Chill the dough before baking: Chilling the dough will help the cookies hold their shape and prevent them from spreading too much.
  • Bake the cookies until they are just set: The cookies should be slightly soft in the center when you take them out of the oven. They will continue to firm up as they cool.

Conclusion:

These oatmeal chocolate chip and bean cookies are a delicious and healthy snack that is perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a snack. They are made with simple ingredients that you probably already have on hand, and they are easy to make. So next time you're looking for a sweet treat, give these cookies a try. You won't be disappointed!
