Time 25m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 8

8 -10 slices of fruit bread
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon nutmeg
3 eggs
almond meal or finely chopped almonds
icing sugar (optional)

Steps:

  • Beat the eggs and add the vanilla, spices and milk.
  • Dip the bread in the batter and coat on both sides with ground almonds or very finely chopped almonds.
  • Fry in melted butter until golden brown on both sides.
  • Dust with icing sugar.

Tips:

- Use stale bread for the best French toast, as it will absorb the egg mixture more evenly and result in a crispier texture. - If you don't have stale bread, you can toast fresh bread slices in the oven at 350°F for 5-10 minutes before using them. - Use a shallow dish for dipping the bread slices into the egg mixture, as this will help to prevent the mixture from becoming too diluted. - Cook the French toast over medium heat, as this will help to prevent it from burning. - Flip the French toast only once, as this will help to prevent it from becoming soggy. - Serve the French toast immediately with your favorite toppings, such as butter, syrup, fruit, or whipped cream.

Conclusion:

Nutty French toast is a delicious and easy-to-make breakfast or brunch dish that is perfect for any occasion. With its crispy exterior and fluffy interior, this French toast is sure to be a hit with everyone at your table. So next time you're looking for a special breakfast or brunch dish, give this nutty French toast recipe a try. You won't be disappointed!
