MOM'S BEST PUMPKIN BREAD

Mom's Best Pumpkin Bread image

My mom has a cookbook that my aunt bought her from a church social back in the 70's. This pumpkin bread recipe is from that cookbook with some changes my mom has made thru the years. A very easy to make and moist, wonderful bread that my mom makes in loaf pans, tart pans, or her bundt pan. Hope you enjoy it as much as we do!

Categories     Breads

Time 1h20m

Yield 3 loaves

Number Of Ingredients 9

3 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup vegetable oil
1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin
1 1/2 teaspoons cinnamon
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Grease well (3) 8 1/2" by 4 1/2" bread pans (I use Crisco).
  • Mix in larger bowl oil and pumpkin
  • In separate bowl combine all dry ingredients and mix well.
  • Add dry ingredients slowly to wet ingredients until well mixed.
  • Divide batter into 3 loaves.
  • Bake approximately 60 minutes until knife comes out clean.
  • Alllow to cool before removing from pans.

Tips:

  • Use fresh pumpkin puree for the best flavor. Fresh pumpkin will yield a more vibrant, flavorful loaf than canned pumpkin.
  • Don't overmix the batter. Overmixing can result in a tough, dense loaf of bread.
  • Bake the bread until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. This will ensure that the bread is cooked through.
  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing and serving. This will allow the flavors to develop and the bread to set.
  • Store the bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.

Conclusion:

This pumpkin bread recipe is a delicious and easy-to-make fall treat. With its moist texture, rich pumpkin flavor, and warm spices, it's sure to be a hit with family and friends. Whether you're looking for a breakfast bread, a snack, or a dessert, this recipe is sure to please. So next time you're in the mood for something sweet and pumpkiny, give this recipe a try.
