Not Your Average Joe's Voodoo Pizza image

For a short period of time (03-04?), Not Your Average Joe's served a pizza they called "Voodoo Pizza". If they had kept it on their menu, we would have frequented their restaurant more often!! Here is my "wannabe" recipe -- how I doctor up a frozen pizza to taste like it. Yum! This pizza also echoes California Pizza Kitchen's Thai (Chicken) Pizza....

Time 50m

Yield 2 14 inch pizzas, 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 5

1 teaspoon sugar
1 packet instant dry yeast
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 1/2 cups hot water (110 degrees)
2 tablespoons olive oil

Steps:

  • Combine the bread flour, sugar, yeast and kosher salt in the bowl of a stand mixer and combine. While the mixer is running, add the water and 2 tablespoons of the oil and beat until the dough forms into a ball. If the dough is sticky, add additional flour, 1 tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together in a solid ball. If the dough is too dry, add additional water, 1 tablespoon at a time. Scrape the dough onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead into a smooth, firm ball.
  • Grease a large bowl with the remaining 2 teaspoons olive oil, add the dough, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and put it in a warm area to let it double in size, about 1 hour. Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and divide it into 2 equal pieces. Cover each with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap and let them rest for 10 minutes.

Tips:

  • Use a high-quality pizza dough for the best results. You can make your own or buy pre-made dough from the store.
  • Be generous with the toppings. Don't be afraid to load up your pizza with your favorite toppings. Just make sure not to overload it so that the pizza becomes soggy.
  • Use a variety of toppings to create interesting flavors and textures. Try using different cheeses, meats, vegetables, and sauces.
  • Bake the pizza in a hot oven for a crispy crust. The ideal temperature for baking pizza is around 450-500 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Let the pizza cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving. This will help to prevent the cheese from becoming stringy and the toppings from falling off.

Conclusion:

Voodoo Pizza is a unique and delicious pizza that is sure to please everyone. With its crispy crust, flavorful sauce, and generous toppings, it's the perfect pizza for any occasion. So next time you're looking for a new pizza recipe to try, give Voodoo Pizza a try. You won't be disappointed!
