BAKED HAM
My family loves ham like this. Sweetly seasoned ham roasted with moist heat is a delicious way to celebrate special occasions. If using a pre-cooked ham, follow the directions on the package for baking times.

SPICY MUSTARD HAM GLAZE (NOT SWEET AT ALL)
I couldn't find a true savory ham glaze, so I made up my own. It turned out so well, I just had to share! I bought a large ham (bone-in of course!) that I wanted to use the left overs, for other yummies later in the week. I don't necessarily like the sweet ham glazes, as it seems to linger with the leftovers. This will be great in scalloped ham and potatoes, ham and beans, omlets, sandwiches.. you name it! Hope you enjoy!! :)

Steps:
- 1. In a small bowl, wisk all ingredients together.
- 2. Pat ham dry with papertowel.
- 3. Schmear all over ham.
- I put mine in the slow cooker for 8 hours on low, or you could bake, roast, smoke, or grill the ham, depending on your preference. You could also marinate the ham before cooking, but I just didn't think about this until the morning of.
- I made a double batch of this to use as a dipping sauce as well. Delish!

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a medium bowl, mix together the maple syrup, orange juice, ginger ale, brown sugar and honey. Stir in the juice from the maraschino cherries, and half of the cherries. Score the outer edge of the ham with a sharp knife in a diamond pattern. Cuts should be about 1/4 inch deep. This will allow the ham to soak up the juice.
- Place the ham into an oven bag, and carefully pour the juice mixture over it, keeping all of the juice in the bag. It may look like there is too much juice, but the ham will soak it up while baking. Place the pineapples onto the top of the ham, and secure with toothpicks. Place cherries into the centers of the rings, and secure with toothpicks also. Tie the end of the bag closed with the ties provided, place in a large roasting pan, and cut a few small slits in the top of the oven bag.
- Bake the ham for 2 hours in the preheated oven. The internal temperature should be 160 degrees F (80 degrees C) when done. Be sure not to touch the bone when taking the temperature. Remove ham from bag to a serving plate, and let stand for 10 minutes before carving.

Tips:
- Choose the right ham: Opt for a fully cooked ham with a bone-in. This will ensure that the ham stays moist and flavorful during baking.
- Score the ham: Use a sharp knife to score the ham's surface in a diamond pattern. This will help the glaze penetrate the ham and create a crispy crust.
- Make a flavorful glaze: Combine brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and spices to create a glaze that will add sweetness and depth of flavor to the ham.
- Bake the ham covered: Cover the ham with foil during the initial baking time. This will help to keep the ham moist and prevent it from drying out.
- Uncover the ham and glaze: Remove the foil and brush the ham with the glaze during the last 30 minutes of baking. This will allow the glaze to caramelize and create a delicious crust.
- Let the ham rest: Once the ham is cooked, let it rest for 15-20 minutes before carving. This will allow the juices to redistribute throughout the ham, resulting in a more tender and flavorful meat.
Conclusion:
Baking a ham is a relatively simple process that can yield delicious results. By following these tips and using a flavorful glaze, you can create a ham that is perfect for any occasion. Whether you are hosting a holiday dinner or simply want to enjoy a special meal with your family, baked ham is a great option that is sure to please everyone at the table.
