1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup distilled white vinegar
2 tbs sugar
2 tsp hot pepper sauce
1 tsp crushed red pepper
1 tsp salt
1/8 tsp pepper

Tips:

  • Choose the right cabbage: Green cabbage is the traditional choice for North Carolina-style coleslaw, but you can also use red cabbage or a combination of the two. Just be sure to shred the cabbage finely so that it absorbs the dressing well.
  • Use a sharp knife or mandoline to shred the cabbage: This will help to create thin, even shreds that will cook evenly.
  • Don't overdress the coleslaw: The dressing should coat the cabbage lightly, but it shouldn't be so thick that it weighs the coleslaw down.
  • Let the coleslaw chill before serving: This will allow the flavors to meld and the dressing to thicken slightly.
  • Garnish the coleslaw with fresh herbs or chopped vegetables: This will add a pop of color and flavor to the dish.
