Tips:

  • Choose the right summer squash: Look for small, tender squash with smooth, unblemished skin. Avoid squash that is too large or has blemishes, as these may be tough or bitter.
  • Slice the squash evenly: This will help to ensure that the squash cooks evenly. If the squash is not sliced evenly, some pieces may be overcooked while others are still undercooked.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan: When cooking the squash, make sure to leave enough space between the pieces so that they can cook evenly. If the pan is too crowded, the squash will steam instead of roast.
  • Roast the squash until it is tender: The squash should be tender enough to easily pierce with a fork. If the squash is not tender, continue to roast it for a few more minutes.
  • Season the squash to taste: Once the squash is roasted, season it with salt, pepper, and any other desired seasonings. You can also add a drizzle of olive oil or melted butter for extra flavor.

Conclusion:

Noreen's Mom's Simple Summer Squash Bake is a delicious and easy dish that is perfect for a summer meal. The squash is roasted until it is tender and flavorful, and the simple seasonings allow the natural flavor of the squash to shine through. This dish can be served as a side dish or as a main course, and it is sure to please everyone at your table.
