Tips:

  • Choose the right beef. Chuck roast or stew meat are ideal for beef stew since they contain a good amount of connective tissue that breaks down during cooking, resulting in tender meat.
  • Brown the beef before stewing. Browning the beef adds flavor and helps to seal in the juices, resulting in more flavorful stew.
  • Use a variety of vegetables. Potatoes, carrots, celery, and onions are classic beef stew vegetables, but you can also add other vegetables such as parsnips, turnips, or rutabagas.
  • Use a good quality broth. Beef broth or beef stock is the base of the stew, so it's important to use a good quality broth. You can use store-bought broth or make your own.
  • Season the stew well. Salt, pepper, and garlic powder are essential seasonings for beef stew. You can also add other seasonings such as paprika, thyme, or rosemary.
  • Simmer the stew for at least 1 hour. The longer the stew simmers, the more tender the meat will be. Simmer the stew for at least 1 hour, or up to 2 hours for even more tender meat.
  • Serve the stew with a side of bread or mashed potatoes. Beef stew is a hearty and filling meal that is perfect for a cold winter day. Serve it with a side of bread or mashed potatoes to soak up the delicious sauce.

Conclusion:

No-tomato beef stew is a classic comfort food that is easy to make and delicious to eat. By following these tips, you can make a perfect pot of beef stew that your family and friends will love.
