EASY NO BOIL PASTA BAKE

Easy No Boil Pasta Bake image

Campbell's used to make a jarred pasta bake sauce that I loved when my kids were little and time was short! When it was discontinued I discovered that the same recipe could be used with any jarred pasta sauce. My oldest son, who is away at college, asked me for some easy recipes that he can make with minimal mess and time and this recipe popped into my head... I thought I'd post it since I couldn't find any others like it on Zaar.

DELICIOUS NO-BOIL PASTA BAKE

Delicious No-Boil Pasta Bake image

This pasta bake is done in one pan and doesn't require you to even boil the pasta first. Yes, that means the pasta is cooked in the oven! It's amazing how delicious it is when you literally only need to spend 5 minutes prepping it. This one is going to save your weeknights for sure! NOTE: This recipe was retested and updated in Nov. 2021 because some commenters noted that it sometimes curdled. We changed the 2 cups whole milk to 1 cup heavy cream and 1 cup stock. We've had amazing results with this change (no curdling!), but wanted to share in case you loved the previous version. The sauce is a pretty pink like a vodka sauce and clings to the pasta beautifully without curdling. We also increased the salt from 1/2 teaspoon to 3/4 teaspoon. 8 oz. uncooked dried pasta shells
12 oz. (4 links) fully-cooked chicken sausages, sliced ¼-inch thick
1 (28 oz.) can diced tomatoes with the juice
2 cups shredded mozzarella, divided
½ tsp. garlic powder
¾ tsp. salt
¼ tsp. black pepper
1 cup heavy cream
1 cup low-sodium chicken stock
Heavy duty aluminum foil
½ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

  • Pour the heavy cream and chicken stock over top and make sure that all of the pasta is submerged.
  • Cover with two layers of aluminum foil and make sure it is very well sealed.*
  • Put it in the oven until the pasta is tender, about 50 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and sprinkle with the remaining 1 cup of mozzarella and the Parmesan.

NO TIME!! BAKED PASTA

No Time!! Baked Pasta image

I'm a little addicted to baked pasta at the moment, and tonight I really wanted some but didn't have the time to wait for it to bake the usual hour or so. So...I came up with this!

Provided by smellyvegetarian

Categories     < 60 Mins

Time 35m

Yield 4 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 1/2 cups whole wheat pasta (I like rotini, it holds sauce well!)
2 cups fat free pasta sauce
1/2 lb ground turkey
1/2 cup low fat cottage cheese
1 cup frozen spinach
1 garlic clove
1/4 cup green pepper, chopped
1/4 cup parmesan cheese, shredded
3/4 cup part-skim mozzarella cheese (divided)
garlic powder (to taste)
basil (to taste)
oregano (to taste)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400.
  • Cook pasta according to package instructions. Set aside.
  • Meanwhile, in a small pan brown ground turkey over med-high heat. Remove from heat and add spinach, herbs, and cottage cheese.
  • Combine pasta, meat mixture, 1/4 c mozzarella, and sauce in a 2 quart casserole dish. Stir well to combine.
  • Microwave on high for 4-5 minutes, or until mixture is heated through.
  • Top with remaining cheese and bake for 10-15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly and casserole is nice and hot.

Tips:

  • Use high-quality ingredients: This will make a big difference in the final flavor of your dish. Look for fresh, organic ingredients whenever possible.
  • Don't overcook the pasta: This will make it mushy and unpleasant to eat. Cook the pasta according to the package directions, or until it is al dente (firm to the bite).
  • Use a variety of vegetables: This will add flavor, color, and nutrients to your dish. Some good options include broccoli, spinach, mushrooms, bell peppers, and zucchini.
  • Don't be afraid to experiment: There are many different ways to make baked pasta. Try different combinations of ingredients and sauces until you find one that you love.
  • Make it ahead of time: Baked pasta is a great make-ahead meal. You can assemble the casserole the night before and bake it the next day. Or, you can bake the casserole and then freeze it for later.

Conclusion:

Baked pasta is a delicious and versatile dish that is perfect for any occasion. It can be made with a variety of ingredients, and it is always a crowd-pleaser. With a little planning, you can easily make a baked pasta dish that is both delicious and healthy.
