Time 15m

Yield 8 serving(s)

Number Of Ingredients 10

1/2 jicama, peeled
4 kiwi, peeled and diced (1 cup diced)
2 green onions, sliced
1/4 cup dried cranberries
1/4 cup diced pimento pepper, from jar
1 garlic clove, minced
1/2 teaspoon cilantro or 1/2 teaspoon parsley, minced
1/2-1 jalapeno, depending on how hot you like it, minced
salt and pepper
1 lime, juice of

Steps:

  • Slice jicama into 1/4 inch slices.
  • Cut slices in half.
  • Take 1/4 of the slices and dice, place in bowl.
  • Drizzle the slices with a touch of lime and set aside.
  • Add remaining ingredients to the diced jicama mixing all to blend. Using as much lime juice as desired.
  • Arrange corn or jicama chips around the bowl of the salsa. Or top your favorite grilled chicken or fish.

Tips:

  • Choose ripe kiwis: Select firm but ripe kiwis for the salsa. Unripe kiwis will be too sour, while overripe kiwis will be too mushy.
  • Use a variety of colors: To make your salsa more visually appealing, use a mix of green and gold kiwis. You can also add other colorful fruits or vegetables, such as red bell pepper, mango, or pineapple.
  • Chop the ingredients finely: This will help the salsa to come together and make it easier to eat.
  • Use fresh ingredients: Fresh ingredients will give your salsa the best flavor. If you can, buy organic ingredients to avoid pesticides and herbicides.
  • Adjust the heat level to your taste: If you like spicy salsa, add more jalapeño pepper. If you prefer a milder salsa, omit the jalapeño pepper or use a milder variety, such as a poblano pepper.
  • Serve the salsa immediately: Salsa is best when it is fresh. If you need to make it ahead of time, store it in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours.

Conclusion:

This New Zealand Kiwi Salsa is a delicious and refreshing salsa that is perfect for any occasion. It is made with fresh, ripe kiwis, tomatoes, onion, and jalapeño pepper. The salsa is easy to make and can be tailored to your own taste preferences. Serve it with tortilla chips, tacos, burritos, or grilled chicken or fish. Enjoy!
