Tips:

  • Use fresh, large shrimp. Smaller shrimp will cook too quickly and become tough.
  • Season the shrimp liberally with salt and pepper before cooking. This will help to enhance their flavor.
  • Cook the shrimp in a hot skillet over medium-high heat. This will help to sear the shrimp and lock in their juices.
  • Do not overcrowd the skillet. If you do, the shrimp will not cook evenly.
  • Cook the shrimp for 2-3 minutes per side, or until they are pink and opaque. Do not overcook the shrimp, or they will become tough.
  • Make sure to use a good quality rice. A long-grain rice, such as basmati or jasmine, will work best.
  • Rinse the rice thoroughly before cooking. This will help to remove any starch and prevent the rice from sticking together.
  • Cook the rice according to the package directions.
  • Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.

Conclusion:

This New Orleans-style shrimp and rice dish is a delicious and easy-to-make meal that is perfect for a weeknight dinner. The shrimp are cooked in a flavorful sauce, and the rice is cooked to perfection. This dish is sure to please everyone at the table.
