1 tablespoon butter or 1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 cup long-grain white rice
2 cups chicken stock or 2 cups vegetable stock
salt, to taste
fresh ground black pepper, to taste

Tips:

  • Rinse the rice: This helps to remove the starch and prevent the rice from becoming sticky.
  • Use a heavy-bottomed pot: This will help to distribute the heat evenly and prevent the rice from burning.
  • Bring the water to a boil before adding the rice: This will help to create a more even cook.
  • Stir the rice occasionally: This will help to prevent the rice from sticking together and burning.
