This is a recipe I have had for years, and I don't remember ever making them. The ingredients sound basically the same as chocolate chip cookies, with the exception of the mini morsels. I thought I'd pass it on to everyone and maybe someone would like to try it and crytique it for us!!

Topping:
1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
2 tablespoons melted butter
1 tablespoon flour
1/2 cup finely chopped nuts
2 cups mini semisweet chocolate chips
Muffins:
1-1/3 cups flour
2/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
6 tablespoons butter, softened
2/3 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
2/3 cup sour cream

Steps:

  • For topping, combine brown sugar, melted butter, and flour. Stir in nuts and 1/2 cup chips. Combine flour, baking powder, soda, and salt. Set aside. Beat butter, sugar, and vanilla until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually add flour mixture alternately with sour cream. Stir in remaining chocolate chips. Spoon into greased or paper lined muffin cups, filling about half full. Sprinkle evenly with topping. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Remove to wire rack and cool completely.

Tips:

- Muffin Pan Preparation: Ensure your muffin pan is adequately greased or lined with paper liners to prevent the muffins from sticking. - Measuring Ingredients: Use accurate measuring cups and spoons to ensure the correct proportions of ingredients for a successful bake. - Mixing the Batter: Mix the wet and dry ingredients separately before combining them to avoid overmixing, which can result in tough muffins. - Muffin Batter Consistency: The muffin batter should be thick and slightly lumpy. Overmixing can result in a dense texture, so mix just until the ingredients are combined. - Muffin Pan Filling: Fill each muffin cup about ⅔ full to allow room for expansion during baking. Overfilling can cause the muffins to rise unevenly or overflow. - Baking Temperature: Preheat your oven to the specified temperature before baking the muffins. Maintaining the correct temperature is crucial for even baking. - Baking Time: Follow the recipe's recommended baking time closely. Overbaking can result in dry muffins, while underbaking can leave them undercooked. - Muffin Cooling: Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. This prevents the muffins from becoming soggy. - Muffin Storage: Store the cooled muffins in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days or freeze them for longer storage.

Creating delicious and fluffy mini morsel muffins is a delightful culinary experience. By following these expert tips and carefully executing the recipes, you can achieve perfect muffins every time.
