Yield Makes about 2 cups

Number Of Ingredients 12

2 cups ketchup
1 cup water
1/4 cup light-brown sugar
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons onion powder
1 1/2 teaspoons dry mustard powder
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1/2 cup apple-cider vinegar
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
1 tablespoon Neely's Barbecue Seasoning

Steps:

  • Combine all of the ingredients in a large pot or a Dutch oven. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking. Stored in a tightly sealed container, this sauce will keep in the fridge for up to 2 months.

Tips:

  • Choose the right tomatoes: Use ripe, juicy tomatoes for the best flavor. Roma tomatoes are a good choice because they have fewer seeds and a thicker flesh.
  • Roast the tomatoes: Roasting the tomatoes intensifies their flavor and gives the sauce a smoky depth.
  • Use a variety of spices: This recipe uses a combination of chili powder, cumin, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Feel free to adjust the spices to your liking.
  • Let the sauce simmer: Simmering the sauce allows the flavors to meld and develop.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasonings: Add more spices, salt, or sugar to taste.

Conclusion:

This Neely's Barbecue Sauce is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used on a variety of dishes. It's perfect for ribs, chicken, pork, and even tofu. It can also be used as a dipping sauce for vegetables or chips. With its smoky, tangy flavor, this sauce is sure to be a hit at your next barbecue or potluck.
