1 small onion, diced
4 (15-ounce) cans pork and beans in tomato sauce, drain
1/2 cup ketchup
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1/3 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 cup sorghum syrup or molasses

Steps:

  • Cook bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat 4 minutes; drain, reserving 1 teaspoon drippings in skillet.
  • Sauté onion in hot bacon drippings 7 minutes or until tender. Stir together pork, onions, beans, and next 5 ingredients in a lightly greased 11- x 7-inch baking dish. Top bean mixture with bacon.
  • Bake at 350°F for 45 minutes or until bubbly.

1 pound dried navy beans
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
4 quarts cold water, divided
1 cup chopped red onion
1/2 cup molasses
6 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
1 teaspoon ground mustard
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Steps:

  • In a large saucepan or Dutch oven, bring beans, salt and 2 qt. water to a boil; boil for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat; let stand for 1 hour. Drain beans and discard liquid. Return beans to pan. Cover with remaining water; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1-1/2 to 2 hours or until beans are tender. Drain, reserving liquid. In a greased 2-1/2 qt. baking dish, combine beans, 1 cup liquid, onion, molasses, bacon, brown sugar, mustard and pepper. Cover and bake at 325° for 3 to 3-1/2 hours or until beans are as thick as desired thickness, stirring occasionally. Add more of the reserved cooking liquid if needed.

4 can(s) (15 ounce cans) pork and beans
7 slice bacon
1/2 onion, diced
1/4 c brown sugar
2 Tbsp molasses
2 Tbsp tomato paste
2 Tbsp yellow mustard
1/8 tsp garlic powder

Steps:

  • 1. Slice bacon into bite sized pieces. In skillet fry bacon over medium to medium high heat until most fat has rendered, and is almost fully cooked, but not real crispy
  • 2. Remove bacon from pan, add onions and cook on med-low to med heat until onion is soft and translucent.
  • 3. While onions are cooking, add the 4 cans of beans into an oven safe casserole dish.
  • 4. In a separate bowl, mix together Molasses, Tomato paste, Mustard, Garlic and Brown Sugar.
  • 5. Add Molasses mixture and bacon and onions to beans and mix to combine.
  • 6. Bake at 350 for an hour, or until mixture thickens and it is the consistency you prefer.
