PEACH COBBLER, THE OLD "CUPPA" RECIPE

Peach Cobbler, The Old

This is a very easy recipe. I don't know where it came from as it is very common here in the south. It's what we refer to as the "cuppa" recipe because it uses a cup of flour, cup of sugar, etc... Nearly everybody has either heard of it or knows how to make it! It's a family favorite and I like to serve it with a scoop of vanilla...

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1 large can(s) sliced peaches in heavy syrup (i think its a 28 ounce can)
1 c self-rising flour
1 c sugar
1 c milk
1 stick butter, melt half of the stick
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 dash(es) salt

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat over to 350* and lightly spray a 7.5 x 11 inch casserole pan or a 9x9 in. square pan.
  • 2. In a medium pot add peaches and juice, 1/2 stick butter. Heat till it comes to a boil then remove from heat.
  • 3. In a medium bowl add flour, sugar, salt and mix. Now add milk and vanilla and stir to combine. Pour into baking dish then pour hot peach mixture over that. Pour the 1/2 stick melted butter on top. Bake for 10 minutes then I like to sprinkle a couple pinches of sugar on top and return to oven. Bake another 10 minutes then start checking it. It takes 20-30 minutes total, depending on your oven.

Tips:

  • Use good quality ingredients: Freshly ground coffee or loose-leaf tea, pure and unflavored milk, and filtered or spring water will make a noticeable difference in the taste of your cuppa.
  • Pay attention to the water temperature: Different teas require different water temperatures for optimal brewing. Check the package instructions or use a thermometer to measure the water temperature.
  • Use the right amount of tea or coffee: Too much tea or coffee will make your cuppa bitter, while too little will make it weak and flavorless. Follow the recommended measurements in the recipe or adjust according to your taste.
  • Steep for the right amount of time: The steeping time will vary depending on the type of tea or coffee you are using. Check the package instructions or experiment until you find the perfect balance of flavor and strength.
  • Add milk and sugar to taste: Adding milk and sugar is a personal preference. If you like your cuppa with milk, use whole milk or your preferred milk alternative. Add sugar or honey to taste, if desired.
