3 3/4 cups chicken broth

  • add remaining butter, orzo, broth, nutmeg, salt and pepper to taste, heat to boil lower to simmer, cover and cook 15 minutes until liquid is absorbed.
  • stir in remaining thyme.

Tips:

  • Mise en place: Before you start cooking, make sure you have all your ingredients and utensils ready. This will help you stay organized and prevent scrambling during the cooking process.
  • Use fresh, flavorful mushrooms: The type of mushrooms you use will have a big impact on the flavor of your pilaf. Choose fresh, meaty mushrooms with a deep flavor, such as cremini or shiitake mushrooms.
  • Sauté the mushrooms until they are browned: This will help to develop their flavor and give them a slightly chewy texture.
  • Use a good quality broth: The broth you use will also contribute to the flavor of your pilaf. Choose a broth that is flavorful and has a rich body. If you don't have any broth on hand, you can use water, but the flavor of your pilaf will be less intense.
  • Cook the orzo until it is al dente: Orzo is a small, rice-shaped pasta. It should be cooked until it is tender but still has a slight bite to it. This will help to prevent it from becoming mushy.
  • Add some fresh herbs: Fresh herbs, such as parsley, thyme, or rosemary, can add a bright, herbaceous flavor to your pilaf. Stir them in just before serving.

Conclusion:

Mushroom orzo pilaf is a delicious and versatile dish that can be served as a main course or a side dish. It is a great way to use up leftover mushrooms, and it is also a good source of protein and fiber. This recipe is easy to follow and can be tailored to your own taste preferences.
