My grandma made this gravy every Thanksgiving to drizzle over sliced turkey and stuffing. When I have leftover turkey and mushroom gravy, I chop the turkey into small pieces and add it to the gravy. I serve it over a piece of bread, open-face style. -Joy Mellwig, Naples, Florida

One of my favorite mushroom sauce recipes! This is good even without the Parmesan, if you like a cheesy sauce then, also 3 minced garlic cloves may be added with the mushrooms --- I most always use this sauce with my recipe #149540 though it's great with anything :)

Tips:

  • Choose fresh, flavorful mushrooms. Use a variety of mushrooms, such as cremini, shiitake, and oyster mushrooms, for a more complex flavor.
  • Don't overcrowd the pan. When sautéing the mushrooms, make sure to give them enough space to brown. If you overcrowd the pan, the mushrooms will steam instead of brown.
  • Use a good quality white wine. The white wine you use will add flavor to the gravy, so choose one that you enjoy drinking.
  • Don't boil the cream. When adding the cream to the gravy, don't let it boil. This will cause the cream to curdle and the gravy to separate.
  • Season to taste. Add salt, pepper, and other seasonings to taste. You can also add a pinch of cayenne pepper for a little bit of heat.

Conclusion:

This mushroom cream gravy sauce is a delicious and versatile sauce that can be used on a variety of dishes. It's perfect for chicken, beef, pork, or fish. It can also be used as a dipping sauce for vegetables or bread. No matter how you use it, this mushroom cream gravy sauce is sure to be a hit.
